Romper La Matrix

· Plaza Vélez Sarsfield, Córdoba

First edition

A street runway that turned seven corners of downtown Córdoba into a catwalk, with local brands and models.

A figure walks down the street in a costume of long white spikes, trailing a printed train.

What prompted it

Romper La Matrix was born as a counter-proposal to the fashion week held every year at Patio Olmos, with the same luxury brands, flat designs and hegemonic models. The first edition took the show to the street, to the seven corners around the Fuente del Perdón, in front of Patio Olmos, to make the point that no permission is needed.

The garment as armour

The garment as identity, armour and discourse of whoever inhabits it. The body as canvas and shared territory; the street, a bastard runway. A show that brought together the styles of Córdoba designers with the imprint of the models who wore and walked their designs.

How it went

On 6 September 2025 a street performance broke the routine of downtown Córdoba: a runway that brought together the styles of local designers and the presence of the models who wore and walked their designs.

It took place on the seven corners around the Fountain of Forgiveness, facing the Patio Olmos shopping centre, to make one thing plain: we do not need to ask permission, or forgiveness, for being who we are.

How it was made

From the corner of Casa Radical came an intro, the manifesto poem Armour, with a set by a local DJ. The models appeared from Diagonal General Eugenio Garzón and crossed the pedestrian crossings of each corner around the fountain, as a runway.

Before and after the show, passers-by were asked what clothing means to them, why they chose what they were wearing that day, which garment represents them most.
